Thursday, March 08, 2007 Dinner for a ‘youngblood’ By Jojie Alcantara Witerary
POPULAR television news anchor and radio personality Mikey Aportadera celebrated a special moment with the Aportadera clan at the ballroom of Grand Men Seng Hotel last week.
With cousins, relatives, family and well-wishers, a sumptuous heavy cocktail buffet was served to the guests while a short program ensued on a short announcement that solidified the clan's strength to support their relative's decision to run for public office.
Mikey comes from a long line of successful family members who have served the community for quite some time as lawyers, doctors, judges and public officials.
His father is the low-keyed physician/surgeon Dr. Rizal Aportadera who happens to be the president of Maharlika Foundation, and a Datu Bago Awardee for Charitable Services.
Having announced his plan to run for public office as councilor in the 2nd district of Davao, Mikey is one of those “youngbloods” who are envisioning a new kind of discipline and hope for the youth and olds alike in the society.
Mikey is among the other new candidate-hopefuls who have their parents for role leaders and wishes to carry on the legacy taught them: Carlo Bello (son of
Undersecretary Bebot Bello), John John Bonguyan (son of Vice Mayor Louie Bonguyan), Karlo Nograles (son of Congressman Boy Nograles), and Sarah Duterte (daughter of Mayor Rody Duterte).
For Mikey, he is merely continuing the family value of public service.
The event was organized by Mikey's cousin lawyer Rudy Taasan and relatives.
