Tuesday, March 27, 2007 I'm running for Davao Norte guv: del Rosario
PRESIDENTIAL Assistant for Government Concerns Rodolfo del Rosario has expressed his intention to run for governor in the province of Davao del Norte in the coming May polls.
Tagum City Mayor Rey Uy made this confirmation in a text message to Sun.Star Davao Monday afternoon.
In a surprise twist to the heated political setting in the province, del Rosario decided to run after his son, Anthony del Rosario, was bypassed as gubernatorial bet of Lakas.
Del Rosario was reportedly pleaded by the people to run for governor.
"I guess it is the will of the people," del Rosario told the crowd of more than 3,000 people Monday.
Streamers have sprouted all over Tagum City supporting the decision of del Rosario.
The two-time governor of the province will be pitted against incumbent congressman and nephew Tonyboy Floirendo.
The Floirendos and del Rosarios are close families. This would be the first time that the two families are pitted against each other in politics.
Meanwhile, Mayor Uy will also be running under the ticket of del Rosario. (CPM)
