Pegasus tops chessfest

THE Pegasus tandem of Henry Lopez and Rowel Canavieras earned 10.5 points to emerge champion at the close of the Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte Araw ng Dabaw Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte Tagduha Chess Tournament at the Gaisano Mall of Davao Sunday.

Pegasus edged fellow 10.5 scorer Harrison Maamo-Josev Aquino of Team Fearless and Glen Aleria-Roel Bucaling of Kapalong via tiebreaks.

Pinoy Votes: Sun.Star Election 2007 Coverage

Fearless placed second while the Kapalong pair placed third in the National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP)-sanctioned Swiss System format competition.

Cash prizes, trophies and medals were awarded to the winners of the chessfest presented by Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte through the Sports Development Division of the City Mayor's Office under city sports coordinator Christopher "Bong" Go. (MLSA)
