Cotabato, Tagum bets advance in head tennis

COTABATO City bets Gerard Pinili and Princeton Gerapusco ousted separate rivals Monday to arrange second round showdown in the boys 18-under category of the 2007 Head Junior Tennis Satellite Circuit at the Ecoland Phase 4 courts.

Pinili whipped Edberg Ado of Tagum City, 10-2, while Gerapusco ousted General Santos City netter Maerks Labandero, also on the same note, 10-2.

In another match, Tagum bet Henry Notarte crushed Anton Rolete, 10-3, to earn the right to meet with top-seed El Santo Santos of Davao City in the next round.

Santos, a BIMP Eaga Friendship Games gold medalist, drew a bye in the first round of the netfest presented by Dynamic Sports Corporation and sanctioned by the Philippine Tennis Association (Philta).

Notarte also won his boys 16-under debut match against Paolo Ramos, 10-7, to meet Rey Perez in the next round. The latter pulled off a 10-9 win over Ado.

Rhada Reyes walloped Kimbert Casanillo, 10-3, to secure a date with John Mark Flores, who demolished Angelo Cansersa, 10-5.

Zeid Tungopon routed Rolete, 10-2, while Ryan Casicas defeated Jeoffrey Casanillo, 10-7, and Jules Canja eliminated Aldwin Libaton, 10-4.

In the boys 14-under, fifth-seed Rogelio Estanio overcame Michael Accion, 10-4, while No. 3 Kurt Gerapusco nipped Reynaldo Dimao Jr., 10-9.

No. 2 Andre Banate thrashed Jonathan Palac, 10-0, to clash against No. 8 Libaton who overwhelmed Elvie Lopez, 10-2.

The first round winners in boys 12-under were No. 2 Estanio, No. 3 Jan Paolo Javier, No. 4 James Sumaylo, No. 7 Pinili, No. 8 Accion, Jeleardo Amazona, Windel Libaton, Reynaldo Dimao, Lopez and Luis Pantua.

Matches in the girls category were set to be played yesterday afternoon.
