Rodriguez to power Davao swim squad

CARLO Rodriguez of the Holy Cross of Davao College (HCDC) and Haroon Cali of the University of Mindanao (UM) will power the Davao Region swimming team to the National Prisaa Finals set on April 15 to 21 in Iloilo City.

The men's team under coach by Dennis Beciera is also bannered by UM mainstays Junie Barani, Aril Bonjoc, Winston Buca, Reymond Morales, Ramil Pega, Isidro Peñales and Jr. Vasit Venturillo.

HCDC tanker Francis Bilao and DMMA College of Southern Philippines' Pearl Angilo Escaro will reinforce the team.

Seeing action in the distaff side are UM's Debbie Kasim, Maritess Latorre, Sheryl Lemosnero, Shahani Navarro and Joyfe Tumulac along with HCDC's Fatima Alamara and Dina Christine Versola.

DCSP's Belenda Pacatang and Brokenshire College's Ma. Carlota Alcantara are also entered in the Dioscora Rodriguez-coached team.

The delegation will travel by ship on April 12 going to Iloilo and coming back to Davao on April 24.

A total of 17 regions will compete in the multi-event sportsfest for collegiate athletes.

No less than President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is the guest speaker during the opening rites. (MLSA)
