GENERAL Santos City's Ernesto Pantua and Manila's Leander Lazaro annexed titles at the close of the General Santos leg of the 2007 Head Junior Tennis Satellite Circuit Wednesday.
Pantua overcame Rolee Joven, 7-5, 6-1, in the boys 16-under finals while Lazaro dusted off Tim Polero, 6-0, 6-1, in the boys 14-under event.
Davao City's El Santo Santos was still playing against Joven for the boys 18-under title while Cindy Gerapusco was slugging it out with Ma. Corina Pimentel for the girls 16-under plum as of Wednesday.
Jay Ann Cabilao took the girls 14-under title by besting Cotabato bet Cindy Gerapusco, 7-5, 6-4, 10-8, while Allysa Callejo copped the girls 18-under crown after scoring a 6-0, 6-0 shutout of Gezee Concha.
Pantua and Callejo also won their events in the Davao leg recently.
The 10-under unisex title went to John Paulo Javier who demolished Angela Factora, 6-2, 6-3, while Rogelio Estanio survived a 6-3, 3-6 (10-4) victory to rule the boys 12-under event.
Arantxa Callejo emerged champion in girls 12-under after nipping Lenelyn Milo, 6-2, 4-6, 10-8, in the heart-stopping titular showdown.
The next stop of the circuit, sponsored by Dynamic Sports Corporation and sanctioned by the Philippine Tennis Association, will be Cagayan de Oro City. (MLSA)
