Thursday, April 12, 2007 Underdog Solis says he can KO Pacquiao
SOME say he will be gone in the early rounds. Freddie Roach believes he will go down in the ninth round. Nobody thinks he has a chance against Manny Pacquiao.
Not Jorge Solis, the man whom Pacquiao will be fighting in a 12-round super featherweight clash on April 14 (April 15 in Manila) at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
Solis, the heavy underdog in the card dubbed "Blaze of Glory," issued a stern warning that reverberated into the Filipino boxer's camp and that is to knock Pacquiao out and shock the world.
"I hold the pride of Mexico in these two hands," Solis was quoted by Fightnews.com as saying while raising both hands upon his arrival in San Antonio.
Solis said he will use his height and reach advantage to the hilt to offset the speed and power of the Filipino southpaw.
Pacquiao, who was the first one to hit the Texas place Sunday, is the heavy favorite against the undefeated yet unknown Solis.
The Mexican warrior will be entering the ring with a fight record of 32-0 with 23 KOs, but the fact that his victims were not top-rated fighters leaves everyone guessing about his true worth in the ring. (CRAM)
