RETAIL and wholesale prices of dressed chicken are stable this summer after going down in January this year, according to a chicken distributor in Matina, Davao City.
The Matina Meatshop, which distributes whole dressed chicken and other meat products, said retail prices of chicken remain at P94 per kilo, while wholesale prices still pegged at P89 per kilo.
"Last December, P97 pesos kasi ang bigay namin sa mga customers, nung January, balik na kami sa P94, so far hindi pa naman tataas ang presyo ng manok ngayong summer," Grecila de Asis, Matina Meatshop cashier, said in an interview.
However, Dominador Budiongan, a meatshop worker, claimed they ran out of chicken in December last year.
"Naubusan kami ng stocks kasi maraming na-dispose sa Cagayan de Oro at sa General Santos," Budiongan said.
It was learned that Matina Meatshop now disposes an average of 100 whole dressed chicken daily in the Matina public market alone.
"Ang mga vendors sa Matina public market, kapag nauubusan sila ng manok, dito sila bumibili sa amin, tinutubuan lang nila ang presyo," de Asis said.
