Woman sues 'gay' hubby
By Rhodamae M. Hernandez

A MAN who allegedly refused to give financial support to his family and was even discovered by his wife having an illicit affair with another man has been charged with violence against women and children.

Charged was Leo (real name withheld to protect his family), 57, of Matina, Davao City, after City Prosecutor Jofre Saniel found probable cause to hold him for court trial based on the complaint filed by his wife, Susana (not her real name), 61.

In an affidavit, Susana claimed that in 1995, her husband seldom stayed home and even refused to pay their bills. She said her husband often told her to just ask from their children who were all working. She said that he just stayed in their farm in Calinan.

Susana said that in March 2007, she went to Calinan with her daughter to look for a house for sale. She said that when she inquired about a house, she was told that her husband owns it and it is occupied by his alleged lover and the latter's family.

She was even told that her husband's friends who frequent the house often call him "bayot (gay)," which she claimed caused humiliation in her part.

She claimed that at around 3 p.m. on April 10, she received a message through her cellular phone that his husband was inside Crimson Inn on San Pedro Street together with his alleged boyfriend.

She then went to the inn and went straight to the second floor. When she opened the door of one of the rooms, she claimed she saw her husband hugging his alleged boyfriend.

Saniel recommended bail of P24,000 for the respondent's temporary liberty.
