Davao athletes off to stirring start
THE Davao Region got off to a rousing start as its cagers and men spikers disposed of their foes at the start of the games in the 2007 National Prisaa Finals in Iloilo City Sunday.
The Manny Nitorreda-coached cagers trashed Region 13, 100-59, at the University of San Agustin.

"We will play Region 1 tomorrow (Tuesday) at 2:30 p.m. But we still don't know how they play. We haven't checked them out yet," Nitorreda said.
The Davao men's basketball team is a crack selection of players from the regional champion University of Mindanao (UM) Wildcats, Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU) Blue Knights and Agro-Foundation College (AIFC) Sailors.
It is bannered by Edgar Awitin, Aldren Blanco, Alvin John Calatayud, Miguel Solitaria, Fernando Eman, Jr., Gaychay Guirigay, Jed Edulan, Bon Andre Liceralde, Robinson Palomares, Abdul Karem Nul, Allan Ardinio and Raymond Duyag.
In men's volleyball, Davao overcame Socsargen (Region 12), 25-19, 25-15, 18-25, 25-15, at the Iloilo Doctors Dentistry Gym.
The formal opening rites, originally set Sunday afternoon, were reset yesterday afternoon. (MLSA)
