GAISANO Mall of Davao will open the highly anticipated third chapter of the popular Spider-Man big-screen version in all its six cinemas on Labor Day, May 1.
It's the first time that only one movie is released for a week - even for a day - at all the theaters of Gaisano Mall.
"Spider-Man 3" is a sure blockbuster. We want to spare the movie-going public from long queues while buying tickets and from standing inside the theaters while watching the movie," Gaisano Mall of Davao Cinema management said.
The two previous Spider-Man flicks were certified blockbusters -- and included in the top 10 of all time top-grossing movies -- in Davao.
The third installment is expected to break box-office record.
With six theaters, the much-awaited sequel will also break the record of its predecessor, Spider-Man 2, as having the most number of movie houses simultaneously showing for a week.
Gaisano Mall opened Spider-Man 2 in four theaters in 2004.
Moviegoers still experienced queuing and the theaters were still SRO (standing room only) during the showing of Spider-Man 2 despite the number of theaters.
Spider-Man 3 had its world premiere in Japan last April 16, and it will start its worldwide release in 15 countries, including Philippines, on May 1.
Americans will have to wait until May 4 to see the movie.
Critics have described Spider-Man 3 as the best in the series.
In the third part, Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) has finally managed to strike a balance between his devotion to M.J. (Kirsten Dunst) and his duties as a superhero. But there is a storm brewing on the horizon.
Peter discovers a mysterious black substance has turned his suit black, and has brought forth a darker side of Parker and Spidey nobody has seen before.
With Spider-Man basks in the public's adulation for his accomplishments and he is pursued by Gwen Stacy (Bryce Dallas Howard), who rivals M.J. for his affections, Peter begins to give into this new dark personality, starts to abandon the ones he loves the most.
His newfound self-assuredness is further jeopardized when he faces the battle of his life not against himself, but also three of the most feared villains ever.
Peter's best friend Harry Osbourne (James Franco) has set out for revenge against Peter; taking up the mantle of his late father's persona as The New Goblin. His Uncle Ben's real killer, Flint Marko (Thomas Haden Church) while fleeing prison, is caught in an accident that displaces molecules and is transformed into the Sandman, a new super villain who is able to change his body into any shape of sand he sees fit.
Peter's rival Bugle photographer, Eddie Brock, a troubled young man who is obsessed with Stacy, has been transformed into Venom, a foe that mirrors everything Spider-Man can do.
