9 disqualification bids filed vs poll bets in S. Mindanao

THERE are nine petitions for disqualification filed before the Commission on Elections (Comelec)-Southern Mindanao as of Monday morning.

Data gathered by Sun.Star Davao showed that six of the cases come from Davao Oriental, two from Davao City, and one from Davao del Sur.

All petitions for disqualification are based on the premise that the respondents are deemed by the complainants to be nuisance candidates.

Moreover, Comelec has yet to render its judgment on the petitions filed.

Davao City 1st district Representative Prospero Nograles, together with a certain Artemio Jimenez, has petitioned for the disqualification of independent candidate Edgar Mabilog.

Mabilog had filed his certificate of candidacy for 1st district representative.

Another independent candidate running for 1st district representative of Davao City was also petitioned for disqualification.

Anacleto Millendez has been petitioned by Jose Vicente Ventosa to be disqualified from running as congressman of the first district.

In Davao del Sur, a mayoralty candidate for the municipality of Jose Abad Santos sought the disqualification of another mayoralty candidate.

Alex Wangkay has petitioned the poll body to disqualify James Joyce from running in the mayoralty race in the municipality.

In Davao Oriental, Nelson Dayanghirang filed his petition for the disqualification of Nelson Inob. Both are eyeing the congressional seat for the 1st district of the province.

Baganga town mayoralty candidate Roseller Macayra has sought the disqualification of rival Edelberto Macayra.

A Provincial Board candidate for the 1st district of Davo Oriental is also seeking the disqualification of one of his rivals. Nestor Uy has filed a petition against Daisy Labayan-Uy.

In Mati, Davao Oriental, Rosalind Lopez filed a petition to disqualify her rival, Ferdinand Lopez from the mayoralty race of the municipality.

In Banaybanay, another municipality in Davao Oriental, a certain Domingo Lim has asked the poll body to disqualify Dominador Dignos, a Municipal Board candidate.

Meanwhile, in the areas of Davao del Norte and Compostela Valley, no one has sought for the disqualification of any of the candidates. (CPM)
