Lawmaker denies rift with Hugpong dads
By Ben O. Tesiorna

HOUSE Majority Leader Prospero Nograles dismissed reports that he is in conflict with some of the 1st district councilors running under Hugpong sa Tawong Lungsod of Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte.

Rumor has it that the congressman is not in good terms with a few councilors, thus his non-attendance in the Hugpong sorties in the 1st district.

Nograles is reportedly accusing some councilors of sowing intrigues between him and Duterte.

In an interview, Nograles denied the rumor and explained that his non-attendance in the Hupong sorties is because he is conducting his own sortie "so as to cover more territory and more people."

"I do not quarrel with allies. I support them. I do not mind intrigues because that is the spice of my political life. I do not lose sleep over council people," Nograles said.

Last week, rumors flew thick and fast that the national Lakas-CMD party headed by Nograles will be junking Councilors Mabel Sunga-Acosta, Peter Laviña, and Bonifacio Militar.

But Nograles denied this, saying there is no use junking the three since there are no better candidates to replace them.

The three councilors also denied that a rift exists between them and Nograles.
