Home for abandoned children

DAVAO City is indeed blessed with a large number of children. But the so-called social development, high cost of living, poverty and family disintegration have resulted to neglect and abandonment of many innocent children.

To help the government minimize the situation, the "Field of Dreams Children's Charity Foundation, Inc" has been established in Davao City.

The foundaiton is founded by a British national Lawrence Field, who's married to a Filipina--Edna Cabaljog-Field.

The Field of Dreams Children's Charity Foundation, Inc. is a social welfare institution, a residential facility which shall cater to male children, who are indigent, orphaned, neglected, and abandoned with ages ranging from 3 to 7 years old upon admission.

However, their length of stay in the facility shall be until they pursue college education.

To start with the building construction, the groundbreaking ceremony and blessing of the area in Biao Guinga in Tugbok District were held on April 19 with Reverend Fr. Ronaldo Ruanto, OCD, as the presiding priest.

Guests were from the DSWD, NGOs, LGUs and others.

The foundation is a registered charity established to provide a haven for homeless children in third world countries.

Initially, the foundation concentrates on building an orphanage in the Philippines. The chosen location is a semi-rural area known as Tugbok.

Financing this project is possible due to a donation of 200,000 pound provided by one of the founding members.

Late last year, Lawrence R. Field arrived in Davao City and purchased 1.9 hectares property in Tugbok costing 26,000 pound.

The property, where the foundation's orphage will be built, has good road access, with water source and electricity connections and level fertile land. It is also within 100 yards from a primary/secondary school.
