Tuesday, May 01, 2007 Earth Day at Eden Nature Park By Ana Felicia Dulay
WHAT better way to celebrate our love for Mother Earth than a brisk walk through the pine-covered mountain trail of Eden Nature Park.
With the balmy mountain air and bright skies, local media and travel tour operators trekked at the Eden Nature Park last Sunday. The 1 kilometer-trail was relatively, easy even for beginners. Of course, for hiking enthusiasts and pros, a longer and more winding trail is available.
On that same day, Eden's newest attraction was also launched, the 200-meter long and 55-meter high zipline at the Eden Fields. Extreme sports lovers will surely love this newest attraction, which promises to be one-thrilling jaunt.
No, I was too chicken to try it out, but I will be back, that is a promise. I had an excuse that my legs were feeling a bit cramped and refused the prodding of Davao's top three photographers, Tommy Iņigo, Rene Lumawag and Roland Jumawan to try it out.
Later in the afternoon, an art contest for teens and children was held, using recyclable materials and trash. It was truly an ingenious way of expressing one's creativity at the same time caring for our environment.
Till the next Earth Day celebration but in the meantime, let us all care for Mother Earth. She is the only one we've got!
