15-T to join Labor Day march

LABOR groups from the government and non-government sectors will be flooding Davao City streets Tuesday in celebration of the 105th Labor Day from sun-up till late afternoon.

The Alliance of Progressive Labor (APL) with a membership of around 5,000 will kick off its activities at 8 a.m. with a march down the city streets to the Freedom Park where the group will reveal what partylist groups and local candidates it will endorse in the coming elections.

The Department of Labor and Employment (Dole)-Southern Mindanao will start its activities with a mass at the San Pedro Cathedral at 9 a.m. followed by a parade that will be participated in by Dole's partners in the private sector as well as non-government organizations.

Around 10,000 members of the militant group Anakpawis and its allied parties are set to start their Labor Day activities simultaneously at around 1 p.m. in three different locations -- Pryce-Bajada, Magsaysay Park and the Magallanes-Qurino junction.

A march will follow the short program at the three locations. The groups will then converge at Rizal Park where the rally and "miting de avance" of Anakpawis will be held. (GLP)
