Sell Davao City as a destination By Joy Romares-Sevilla
FOR hotels in Davao City to be successful, the city, as a destination, should first be established, said Art Boncato, sales promotion director of the Marco Polo Davao.
Boncato, during Wednesday's Club 888 forum, said Davao City should be "sold" as a destination not only to investors, but also to tourists.

"Everytime we go out for tour, we do not sell Marco Polo Davao, but we sell Davao City, the property should always be secondary because in order for the hotel to be successful, the destination should first be successful," Boncato said.
Meanwhile, Marco Polo will be hosting the Bamboo Tradition Festival on May 4 to 6 where highlights of the uses of bamboo will be showcased.
Boncato said a Bamboo Food Showcase will also be done where a people will be able to know how bamboo is used as a food ingredient or a vessel in preparing food.
"A lecture on food cultivation will also be done, this is a good opportunity for people to learn more about bamboo and probably appreciate the contributions of bamboo," he said.
