FOURTEEN-year-old Neptali III Batucan topped the 21st Edition BKCC-DCSC Under 16 Rapid Club Rating chess tournament Saturday at the Blue Knights Chess Club, Davao City.
Batucan, who hails from Toril, scored 4.5 points to come out on top.

Batucan, playing out of Don Juan Dela Cruz Elementary School-Toril, finally ended his long search for a victory in the monthly chess sponsored by the Davao City Sports Council and blue Knight Chess Club.
The champion won four games and had a draw with younger brother John Ray Batucan, fresh from competing the 2007 National Age Group Chess Championship in Manila.
Sharing second and third places were 10-year old Austin Jacob Literatus of Magsaysay Elem School and Recto Sanchez of Stella Maris Academy who both scored 4.0 points.
Emerging as best female performer was Rowelyn Joy Acedo of Jose Maria College. Acedo also place third in the just concluded 2007 National Age Group Chess Championship in Manila in the 10 girls category.
The event is supported by the Davao City Sports Council and Blue Knight Chess Club.
