IT TAKES around 15-20 minutes and a 14-kilometer travel through coconut plantations in my sweet hometown of Mati, Davao Oriental to reach Cinco Masau Beach Resort. This place has a sweet success story to tell.
Vic Cinco was a simple family man with a modest income and a growing family, who fell in love with the place and built his dream from his visions.
Many years ago, he struggled to buy the lot and started building cottages to realize this dream. Through perseverance, faith and a sizable loan to buy lumber, his beach resort became operational in 2001 with only three cottages to start off with.
Today, Cinco Masau Beach Resort is fully operational as one of the premier destinations in Mati, Davao Oriental, offering visitors with 20 cottages, four air conditioned rooms, 10 lodging rooms, a function hall with eight rooms in the attic.
Price ranges from P300 for cottages to P400 for the air-conditioned rooms.
Its location affords a breathtaking view of neighboring islands and the tranquil, clear aquamarine waters where bancas are ready to take you island hopping to nearby scenic Waniban Island, Pujada Island and the vanishing Oak Island.
