By Joy Romares-Sevilla

RETAIL and wholesale prices of dressed chicken are set to increase by P3 Wednesday, according to a chicken distributor in Matina, Davao City.

The Matina Meatshop, exclusive distributor of Swift chicken, will increase retail prices from P97 to P100 and wholesale chicken prices from P89 to P92 after it received a notice from Swift.

Grecil de Asis, of the Matina Meatshop, said prices of chicken will increase because of lack of supply in the market.

Dominador Budiongan, also of Matina Meatshop, said chicken vendors at the Bankerohan public market who get their stocks from the meatshop will also increase their selling prices for dressed chicken.

He also said they are expecting to dispose 500 chicken heads in two to three days.

"Marami ang ini-expect namin ngayon na ma-dispose kasi lalaki na ang demand, dati 200 chicken heads good for two to three days na namin yun," he said.
