Wednesday, May 23, 2007 City workers get 10% pay increase By Carlo P. Mallo
EMPLOYEES of the City Government of Davao will be enjoying a 10 percent increase in their salary starting on the 1st day of July.
But City Administrator E. Wendel Avisado was quick to disperse the rumors that the increase is a form of payback for the unrelenting support for the mayor and his daughter, Vice-Mayor elect, Inday Sara Duterte.
Avisado Tuesday said it was actually President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo who mandated the increase in the wages of the employees of the local government units through Executive Order 611.
Moreover, Avisado clarified that the increase will be enjoyed by all employees regardless of their status.
He added that even those on job orders and contractuals will benefit from the increase.
"Ayaw man ni mayor na pipila lang, gusto niya pantay-pantay sa tanan (The mayor doesn't want a select few, he wants everyone to benefit)," Avisado said.
