All eyes on RP bets as Predator 10-Ball opens
By Marianne L. Saberon-Abalayan

ALL EYES will be on Filipino cue masters, including one from Davao City, when the 7th Predator World 10-Ball Championships get underway in Florida.

Francisco "Django" Bustamante, Dennis Orcollo, Alex Pagulayan and Lee Vann Corteza are seeing action in the five-day event.

Also in the field are Santos Sambajon, Marlon Manalo and Warren Kiamco.
Meanwhile, Corteza has Bustamante and Pagulayan, both billiards icons, as godfathers of his son, Lee Vann Corteza Jr., who will be Christened on June 11.

Sambajon, a US-based veteran cue artist who was 2005 Skins Billiards runner-up, was also handpicked by the elder Corteza as sponsor.

This was revealed by Corteza's wife, Gelia, who is left with the preparations for the coming affair since her husband is competing in Florida.

Corteza, reigning All-Japan Open and BSCP National Pool champion, will come back just in time for the Christening.

The Davao pool master will then resume action in the third leg of the Guinness 9-Ball Tour at Genting Highlands Resort in Malaysia on June 15 to 17.

Corteza, Jakarta leg runner-up, was removed from the RP roster during the second leg held in Kaohsiung, Chinese Taipei over the weekend where Chinese Yang Ching-Shun emerged champion.

The 96-man field stakes a total of US$55,920 where the champion will be $14,000 richer.
