A TOTAL of 210 tankers will battle for honors as the 8th Davao Mayor's Cup Age-Group Swimming Competition plunges into action at the Ladislawa Country Club in Buhangin Friday.
Host Coastland Davao Swim Team (CDST) is eyeing its title-defense despite the absence of its members now based at the Philippine Center for Excellence in Aquatic Sports (PCEAS) at Trace Aquatics Center in Los Baños, Laguna.
Swimming clubs from all over Mindanao like regulars South Cotabato Swim Club of Koronadal and Dadiangas Torpedoes are expected to give CDST a stiff challenge.
Cagayan de Oro-based Aqua Knights Swim Club, Blue Sharks Swim Club and Cagayan de Oro Swim Club, Blue Tanker Hammerhead Swim Club of Zamboanga City, Dolphin Angel Swim Club of Koronadal, Evangelista Aqua Swim Club, Gensan Warrios Swim Club, Naga Great Whites of Naga City, Oriental Negros Blue Dolphin Swim Club of Dumaguete City, Plunge and Swim Club, Polomolok Aqua Sprinters Swim Club of South Cotabato, Hammerhead Shark Swim Club of Puerto Princesa, Silliman University Swim Club, Sta. Fe Swim Club of Bacolod City, Tangub Aquaflyers Swim Club of Tangub City, Unattached Florida, USA, Zamboanga West Aqua Swim Club of Zamboanga City are also fielding entries.
The three-day point system competition features the six-under, seven to eight, nine to 10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-17 and 18-above categories.
Ceelin and Arena gift packs will be awarded to the most bemedaled boy and girl swimmers in every category.
Medals will be awarded to the winners while the top three teams will receive trophies in the Philippine Amateur Swimming Association (Pasa)-sanctioned meet.
