Neda welcomes Eaga biz portal
By Joy Romares-Sevilla

THE presentation of the Bimp-Eaga Business Portal (BEBP) in Davao City was welcomed by the regional office of the National Economic Development Authority (Neda) as it strengthens trade and investment information exchange within the Bimp-Eaga.

Neda 11 regional Director Nicasio Angelo Agustin said the business information facility bolsters the implementation of the Davao Region Development Plan (DRDP), especially the promotion of the region's industry clusters.

"This is a good move in improving trade relations with our neighboring countries," Agustin said adding the Business Portal which was presented at the Grand Men Seng Hotel, Friday will eventually redound to provision of better business and economic exchange opportunities for Davao Region, Mindanao, and eventually the entire Philippines as well.

The BIMP-Eaga Business Portal was promoted as a one-stop source of information on various trade and investment opportunities in each of the Eaga focal areas, including the Northern Territory of Australia.

Neda said the portal not only speeds up business communication exchange, which can help promote the regions' main commodities, but also strengthens Davao City as the premier financial and information and communications technology (ICT) in Mindanao.

The portal is an initiative of the Northern Territory Government of Australia in conjunction with Microsoft and TechnicaOne Business Solutions.

It will provide support for the BIMP-Eaga regions small and medium enterprises covering countries namely: Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, and the Northern Territory of Australia.

There were 11 main categories identified in the business portal, including agribusiness, art and culture, commercial, construction and engineering, education and training, government and industry associations, IT and communications, manufacturing, resources, tourism and hospitality, and transport and logistics.

The Mindanao Business Council (MinBC), on the other hand, was considered as the BEBP Mindanao regional office.
