Friday, June 01, 2007 FVR, ex-Miss Universe invited for Singh event
FORMER President Fidel V. Ramos and ex-Miss Universe Margie Moran Floirendo have been invited to grace the 1st Lucho Singh Invitational Golf Tournament, which fires off July 8, at the Apo Golf and Country Club.
Organizers of the 18-hole event have also invited Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chair Benjamin Abalos.
Ramos was the president when the Apo Golf and Country Club played host to the 1995 Philippine Open, the first time the annual event was held outside of Manila.
Floirendo, who won the Miss Universe beauty pageant in 1973, was a member of the secretariat in the '95 Open.
Meanwhile, Singh announced that Manny Uson, a successful businessman from Washington, is one of the sponsors of the tournament.
Also, Alfoso Reyno of the Manila Jockey Club confirmed to be a major sponsor of the fund-raising event to benefit cancer victims in Davao through the Amuma Cancer Support Group Foundation, Inc. (CRAM)
