Saturday, June 02, 2007 Ateneo disowns student leader By Carlo P. Mallo
THE Office of Student Affairs (OSA) of the Ateneo de Davao University denied reports that the president of the school's student council will be involved in a protest rally against an impending tuition fee hike in most schools in the region as classes start within the month.
According to Ricardo Enriquez of the Ateneo de Davao University, it is impossible as there is still no president.
It was reported last Thursday that a certain "Carlos Manlupig, Ateneo de Davao University Student CouncilpPresident and Kabataan Party coordinator-Davao City" was quoted to have said that he would be protesting over the tuition fee increases to be implemented by the schools.
Enriquez said Friday that Manlupig is not the president of the student council of the Ateneo de Davao University, but instead was a candidate for the presidency.
Enriquez said no one has been proclaimed yet because of pending protests filed by the candidates.
