Saturday, June 02, 2007 Datba invited for Manila meet
THE Davao Tenpin Bowlers Association (Datba) has been invited to join the 36th PBC Boysen International Congress Open set to open Saturday and will end on June 16 at the SM Mall of Asia.
Datba president Virgilio "Billy" Magdale they might send one, two or three players to the competition.
"We are not aiming to win but just to represent our association since the Philippine Bowling Congress had been very supportive of our programs and activities," Magdale said.
Magdale admitted Datba players will not fare well in the meet that is expected to attract bowling champions from different parts of the world.
"I'm still convincing Manny Nierra, Art Galendez and former Datba president Jojo Flores to represent Datba but it's really up to them to join. The long duration of the tournament might hinder them from going though considering their jobs here," Magdale said.
The tournament offers a cash prize of P250,000 for all champions in the youth, team, doubles, singles, rookie and seniors divisions.
"It would be good for our players to compete and experience playing with national and international champions," Magdale said. (MLSA)
