OVER 130 entries will compete for honors as the 5th Mindanao Age-Group Novice Swimming Meet plunges into action at 8:30 a.m. on June 9 at the Woodridge Park and Country Club in Maa.
Tournament director Darren Evangelista, who guested at the Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum Thursday, said there will be 51 events to be contested in a handful of age-group categories.
The Philippine Amateur Swimming Association (Pasa)-recognized event features the 15 years-old and above, 13 to 14, 11 to 12, nine to 10 years-old, seven to eight and six years old and above.
Evangelista said the swimfest will have teams coming from General Santos, Koronadal and Polomolok, South Cotabato with a huge number from Davao.
The meet is designed for swimmers who have not yet competed in any amateur swimming tournament.
The champion team and best coach will also receive special awards. (MLSA)
