Food packaging workshop for local manufacturers
By Grace L. Plata

THE Philippine-Australia Human Resource Development Facility (PAHRDF) will be holding a food-packaging seminar workshop in partnership with the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCII) to raise the standards of locally-made products.

Milalin Javellana, PAHRDF facility director, said local entrepreneurs will be invited and gathered to learn from experts in order to come up with a local manual that will be used in maintaining quality control standards.

"They will be educated on food packaging not only with the outside look that will attract consumers but also on food safety or making sure the package or wrap will preserve the product in top condition when it reaches the customers," said Simeon Marfori II, member of the board of trustees of DCCII.

This is in line with the Davao City Branding System Ordinance passed by the City Council last April which provides that a board be established to process and give accreditation for local products which has passed standards tests.

The products will be granted the privilege of using the Davao-made seal of excellence to mark what a globally-competitive product of the city is.
