THE Computer Manufacturers, Distributors and Dealers Association of the Philippines (Comddap) has formally opened the Comddap 2007, Mindanao's largest ICT event at the Davao Convention and Trade Center Thursday.
Comddap Davao 2007 brings together 27 exhibitors, business leaders, company and industry professionals to showcase the latest innovations, sell their products and services, network, exchange ideas, and tap new markets.
Juan Chua, Comddap president, said the organization aims to promote information and technology (IT) trade and display what are the technologies that are now available in the market.
"This is a three-day activity (June 21 to 23) and we want that people would be aware of what are the latest technologies in the market," Chua said, adding that at this highly advanced time, such activity should be done at least once a year.
Chua said they also invited schools and universities so that students can witness for themselves the equipment available in the exhibit.
"There's also an IT Trivia Contest tomorrow (June 22) and this will be participated by schools," Chua added.
Meanwhile, among the exhibitors who participated in the event are the Wordtext Systems Inc., the Trinity Marketing, Inc., Sanyo Philippines Inc., Sun.Star Davao Publishing Inc., Rasi Computer, the Redwood Ventures, PLDTmyDSL, Epson Philippines Corporation, Canon Marketing, Inc., the Astech Pengson Distributors Inc., Axis Global technologies Inc., Chase Technologies Corporation, Hitachi-Glee Electronics Inc., PC Buyers' Guide, PC Trends, and others.

On the other hand, an IT student said that the event is very helpful for them since they are able to recognize and be also aware of the existing technologies in their time.
"It's very helpful because we can personally see how small or big the equipment is and what are the special features of the equipment through the informative leaflets that are available in every booth," the student said.
