Saturday, June 23, 2007 Rody, Sara to grace `Bakbakan' opening
DAVAO City Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte and his daughter, vice mayor-elect Sara Duterte, will grace Saturday's opening of the Mindanao Goodwill and Friendship Games "Bakbakan sa Alley 2007" at the Dover Mega Lanes.
Emie Orteza, president of the organizing Sunday Bowlers Club, said Mayor Duterte and the vice mayor had confirmed their attendance in the opening rites set to start at 10 a.m.
Competition starts at 1 p.m with teams from as a far as General Santos City, Tacurong, Iligan, Tacloban Davao fighting it out for top honors.
Orteza said Iligan will be led by no less than Mayor Lawrence Cruz, a regular member of the Iligan City Bowlers Association (ILCBA).
Cash prizes and trophies await the winners, with the champion pocketing P20,000. The event will have men's and ladies categories.
The men's event will be a five-game series while the women's category will play four games, with the teams with the most number of pinfalls in the end emerging as champions. CRAM
