Two fishermen, Romeo Maliwang and Lucrecio Morato, both from Astorga in Sta. Cruz went to sea at around 8 a.m. on Thursday and chanced on Torres's body floating near sitio Cebulan Baybay also in Astorga. They tied the body to their boat and dragged it to the shore.

Police said Torres told his wife last June 17 that he was going out to sea. He has not gone home since then.

Police are still trying to determine whether the victim was killed and his body dumped on the waters.

The report did not indicate though whether the body bore wounds that would indicate foul play. (Nilo P. Cobrado)
