ASIDE from the technopreneurship program for students in the region, the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (DCCCII), is also pushing programs for out-of-school youths (OSY), which can help them bring out their skills in food processing.
DCCCII has recently finished a food processing course for the 12 batches of out-of-school youths.
Andrei Fournier, DCCCII's member of the Board of Trustees, said the course does not only focus on how to teach the younger generation the basic steps of food processing, but this also enables them to change their mindset on how to become entrepreneurs.
"Our younger generation is open to new learnings, mga bright naman sila, we are tapping the young community because our main objective here is to reduce crimes, karamihan kasi sa mga out-of-school youths ay walang ginagawa," Fournier said.
The program, Fournier said, will not only open new learning for the out-of-school youths, but will also build up self-esteem of these young people.
"We are teaching the youth to be entrepreneurs and not to be employees only," Fournier added.
Meanwhile, Fournier said DCCCII does not only have programs for the out-of-school youths, but also for the small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
He said DCCCII has initiated the Davao Branding System, a program which would help Davao SMEs to establish its name and products in the market.
"Let's patronize our own local products so that we can have the possibility to go global," Fournier said.
Davao Branding System was launched a few months back. DCCCII continuously encourages SMEs to join in the branding system. Any SME who will signify in the system will have the Davao Branding System logo in their products which will indicate that the product is produced from any of the provinces in Davao Region. (JGRS)
