DAVAO City cue artist Ronnie Aying beat Reynaldo Campana, 9-7, to emerge champion in the just-concluded Mayor's Cup Billiards Tournament in San Isidro, Davao Oriental.
Aying pocketed the cash prize of P10,000 while Campana settled for the P5,000 runner-up prize.
Third placer Val Paguay, who have won titles in General Santos and Cagayan de Oro, received P3,000 while Tagum ace Jong Daciado got P2,000 for his fourth finish.
Paguay beat Daciado, 7-5, in their battle for third in the one-day tournament managed by Rolando "Antoy" Bantayan.
Bantayan used to be a frontrunner in organizing billiards competitions including the National Invitational 9-Ball Billiards Tournament in 1999 that attracted top RP players the likes of Antonio Lining, Warren Kiamco, Leonardo "Dodong Dadiangas" Andam, Dennis Orcollo and Davao top guns Lee Vann Corteza and Gandy Valle.
