MILF disowns Bansalan bomber
By Ben O. Tesiorna

THE Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) denied that the principal suspect in the bombing of a Weena bus in Bansalan, Davao del Sur last June 15 is a member of their organization as claimed by the police authorities.

In a text message, MILF spokesman Eid Kabalu said Abdul Ahad is not a member of the MILF and has never been.

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group has filed multiple murder and multiple frustrated murder against Abdul Ahad for the death of nine passengers and the wounding of 14 others when he left the black bag containing the bomb inside a Weena bus shortly before six in the afternoon of June 15.

Police authorities claim Ahad was positively identified by witnesses as the person who left the bag that contained the bomb inside the bus. Neighbors of Ahad in Pagalungan, Maguindanao reportedly confirmed as well that the suspect is an active member of the MILF in the area.

Reports reaching Sun.Star Davao showed that the military had been collating evidences against active members of the MILF that are suspected to be involved in the recent spate of bombings in Mindanao.

A military official who requested anonymity said they will be submitting their evidences to the commander-in-chief for appropriate actions.
