Tuesday, July 10, 2007 More privilege speeches seen in Tuesday's session By Grace L. Plata
PRIVILEGE speeches might be just the main attraction in Tuesday’s Council session as all matters are only set for first reading with shelter issues expected to be much talked about.
Included in the agenda is a resolution to enact an ordinance creating the Davao City Housing Board and another to enact an ordinance for the Davao City Comprehensive and Continuing Land Reform, Housing and Livelihood Program.
The City Council committee on housing, rural and urban development is also set to present a position paper on the Shelter development Cooperative called "Strategy to Help Save our Shelter Issues, Problems and Concerns in Davao City" and all these related to the recently approved Shelter Code which seeks to address socialized housing problems of the city.
On the other hand, Councilor Peter Laviña is also set to propose the enactment of the Davao International Airport Safety Ordinance that prohibits flying of kites and raising of doves in areas near the airport. This developed amid reports of aerial problems brought about by birds being suck by the plane engines or rotor blades after they tangled up with kite strings.
Most of Tuesday's agenda are requests for funding of various barangay projects.
