US AMBASSADOR to the Philippines Kristie Kenney is keeping her distance over controversy involving the implementation of the Milk Code in the country.
Kenney visited Davao City last week to award grants to private agencies that would assist the American government in pushing for better maternal and child health in various areas in Mindanao.
When prodded by the media as to whether she would allow or disallow the use of infant formulas, Kenney begged off from the question.
"I, or the American government, do not have any policy regarding that issue," she said.
The US government has provided grants to five private organizations in Mindanao that would implement programs on family planning and maternal and child health in the workplace.
"There can be no greater blessing than good health," Kenney said.
Meanwhile, the country awaits the decision of the Supreme Court on the legality of the revised rules and regulations on the implementation of the Milk Code issued by the Department of Health.
Most multinational companies that produce and distribute infant formulas that have filed for a temporary restraining order are based in the United States.
