Land surveys, applications for titles burned in fire
By Carlo P. Mallo

HUNDREDS of land surveys and applications for land titles in the province of Davao del Norte were burned to ashes in the dawn fire that razed the Provincial-City Environment and Natural Resources Office in Tagum City last July 8.

Lawyer Felix Alicier, regional technical director of the Department of Environment and Natural Resource Southern Mindanao, said the fire razed these documents and not a single one was saved.

"Not the entire province is affected, only the eastern part of del Norte," Alicier said. The eastern parts are those in the direction of Compostela Valley. He said the areas covered by the environment office of Panabo City and those surrounding New Corella and Asuncion were not affected.

He said land records, surveys, and application for land titles were all burned during the fire. Alicier urged all those who had pending applications for land titles to immediately visit the office in order and present the original copies of the necessary documents. "This would be very crucial to process the requests and validate their claims," Alicier added.
