WITH barely two months yet to go, only 70 slots of the 500 limit of entries are available for the 15th Shell National Youth Active Chess Championship Davao leg set on September 15 and 16, 2007, at the SM City entertainment plaza.
Tournament coordinator Ronnie Tabudlong Tuesday said they are already 430 registrants.
"We are encouraging interested players to sign up as soon as possible to make it to the cut," Tabudlong said.
He said they are only waiting for 70 more entries before they close the registration.
The annual two-day Swiss System format chessfest will have the juniors 20 years old and below (born not earlier than 1987) and kiddies 14-below (born not earlier than 1993) divisions.
The event offers cash prizes and trophies to the winners where the top three placers will also advance to the grand finals in Mandaluyong City.
Awards also await the youngest player, top youngest player, overall top female player, sportsmanship award and school most represented. (MLSA)
