Thursday, July 26, 2007 Corteza to play in SuperBalita 9-Ball
MANILA-based reigning All-Japan Open champion and BSCP Pool champion Lee Vann Corteza of Davao City will leave for Cebu to compete in the Sun.Star SuperBalita 9-ball Challenge set Friday to Sunday at the SM City Cebu Trade Hall.
Corteza's wife, Gelia, confirmed this to Sun.Star Davao in a text message Tuesday.
She said her husband will also go to Shanghai, China on August 2 to see action in the fifth and final leg of the Guinness 9-Ball Tour slated August 3 to 5.
Corteza is among the heavy favorites to win the P160,000 championship prize along with World 9-ball champion and 2005 US Open 9-ball ruler Alex Pagulayan, 2007 Oslo, Norway Battle of Scandinavia 9-ball kingpin Roberto Gomez, Davao's 2006 Asian 9-ball tour champ Gandy Valle and 2004 Fil-9 ball Open ruler Antonio Gabica.
Reigning WPA 9-ball and WPA 8-ball champion Ronato Alcano and 2007 BCA Enjoypool.com winner Dennis Orcollo will not be around.
Alcano is reportedly set to shoot a TV commercial for Guinness in Jakarta while Surigao-native is campaigning in the States. (MLSA)
