Light bulb spark in council building brings in firemen, 911
By Grace L. Plata

A LIGHT bulb on the ground floor of the City Council building emitted sparks, prompting personnel to turn off the main switch, as firemen from the Bureau of Fire Protection, Filipino-Chinese Volunteer Fire Fighters, and 911 Emergency Rescue rushed in the area at around 9:15 a.m. Friday.

The light bulb, which was hanging on its wire from the ceiling, sparked as it was turned on.

It was Catalino Bolo Jr., chief of the Business Tax and License Division, who instructed employees to turn off the building's main power supply to make sure it does not happen elsewhere in the building.

Floor Leader Bonifacio Militar said the building is plagued by problems with its wire connections.

"I will immediately bring this to the attention of Vice Mayor Sara Duterte as these connections need to be checked," Militar said.

Councilor Nilo Abellera, vice-chair of the committee on energy, transportation and communication, said they already passed a resolution requesting the City Engineer's office to check and evaluate the wiring in the City Council Building.
