Monday, July 30, 2007 Rains to continue this week: weather bureau By Carlo P. Mallo
DAVAO City and the rest of Southern Mindanao will continue to experience rain for the entire week.
According to the weather forecast of the Philippine Atmospheric and Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), this is because an Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) is affecting the regions of Visayas and Mindanao.
As Metro Manila continues to pray for more rains, Davao City and the rest of the region is experiencing light to moderate, and at times, heavy rains. Water supply in the city also remains to be at a sustainable level, and is being continuously replenished by rain.
Luzon, specifically where they have the dams for hydroelectricity and water, has been experiencing minimal rains for the past two months, bringing down the water levels in Angat dam way below the critical level. The low water level in the dam has caused speculations that water will be rationed in Metro Manila and its neighboring provinces.
Winds remain to be moderate and light, blowing from the Southeast and South of the region. Coastal waters will remain to be slight to moderate.
The entire Southern Mindanao will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms especially in the late afternoon and evening.
Temperature in the region will peak at 30 degrees Celsius and will be at a low of 22 degrees Celsius.
