THE City Treasurer's Office has embarked on a P40 million computerization scheme for its real property tax department dubbed as "Davao City Real Property Tax Computerization Project."
"It is a sophisticated program that would allow us to immediately see if the previous taxes had been duly paid," City Treasurer Rodrigo Riola told Sun.Star Davao Thursday.
He added that with the computerization program, the proliferation of fake receipts would be eradicated.
Riola said contrary to reports that the project costs P140 million, it is only worth P40 million.
He said the project is set to be launched by December, wherein all transactions with the real estate section would already be computerized. "We are now encoding all the files, so they could be accessed through the computers," Riola added.
"It is an effective and efficient control measure," Riola said.
Erroneous entries will be detected immediately and also the person who entered such.
Riola said the program would enable him to be updated with how much revenue they are receiving every thirty minutes.
Riola is hopeful that the computerization project would provide the city more revenues.
