Taste of Hong Kong at the Lotus Court

AFTER a successful run last year, Marco Polo Davao is bringing Hong Kong back to Lotus Court.

This time, it's here for good.

To add zest to the regular Lotus Court menu, the hotel sent Chinese chef Gilbert Ortega to Hong Kong for an intensive training and education on that country's best cuisines.

Now, locals can experience an extended version of authentic Chinese cuisines with the addition of new Hong Kong dishes in the menu.

Savor sautéed lobster, squid stuffed with minced shrimp in sweet chili sauce with sesame seeds, Chinese barbecued duck with vegetable salad, four sea dragon soup, and a whole lot more--tasty and guaranteed to delight your palates and satisfy your cravings.

Rediscover delicious Hong Kong only at the signature dining place for Oriental cuisines. Promo is from August 6 to September 30.

For inquiries and reservations, please call 221-0888 local 7232 to 7233.

The Chef

He's not Chinese nor was he born in Hong Kong - Chef Gilbertis just a simple Cebuano who conquered Davao as the principal Chinese chef at Marco Polo Davao.

Chef Gilbert took a degree in Refrigeration and Air condition Technology at the Cebu State Science and Technology. Straight after college, he worked in the kitchens of White Gold House and Resort in Cebu. He migrated to Davao together with his wife and kids to search for greener pastures.

Not long after, he was hired by Marco Polo Davao, Mindanao's premier international hotel. He was directly assigned as Wok chef at the Lotus Court and eventually moved his way up as the Chinese chef of the restaurant mid-year 2006.

Garnering positive feedbacks for his Cantonese creations, the hotel sent him to Hong Kong early this year for an intensive training and education on Hong Kong's best cuisines.

With his return is his new found expertise on Hong Kong cuisines and other various Cantonese dishes. Now, he's imparting his delicious recipes to Davao.
