"Based on our experience every year, prices of flowers during this month do not increase. If ever there will be an increase this time, it would be very minimal, probably by only P5," Dayrit said Monday.

She claimed that the last increase in prices of flowers was in March and April this year during school graduations and the Holy Week.

"After those months, we were back to our regular prices," Dayrit said, adding that at present they even offer a dozen of red roses for only P25. These roses that are the locally grown and with small stems, she said.

She added that during the past Kadayawan celebrations, Greenwich and SM City Davao ordered flowers from them. These two companies are consistent winners of the floral float parade.

This year's Floral Float Parade is scheduled on August 19.

Roses now cost for as low as P25, P30, P40, P50, and P60 per dozen depending on the variety. On the other hand, gold mums cost P80, and P120 per dozen for regan mums. Regan mums are more expensive because it has various colors. Meanwhile, Holland variety anthorium is pegged at P100 per dozen, while the local variety costs P60 to P80.

Dayrit said they get their flower stocks from Calinan and Tagakpan, both in Davao City.
