P50T up for best name for newly-built park
By Grace L. Plata

DAVAO City Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte promised to give P50,000 to anyone who can come up with the best name for the newly constructed theme park at the former PTA grounds.

Duterte on Wednesday said he would really like the Dabawenyos to get involved in choosing the name for the park so that it would become a citywide effort.

For now, the new park is simply called as "The Park," but Duterte said he wants a more suitable name for the multi-million theme park that will surely become the next landmark in the city.

Duterte said to come up with the appropriate name for the park is for one to trace its history.

"Natingala bitaw ko nganong PTA ang tawag ana. All I know is its from Parent-Teacher Association but I do not know how that came about. Ma-explain unta na," Duterte said.

Some were suggesting naming the park after Duterte or his late father, Governor Vicente Duterte, but the city mayor is not keen on allowing such, saying it does not sit well with him.

The park in question, according to the mayor, will be partially open within the duration of the Kadayawan Festival.
