The vice mayor said Thursday that the city should not only have the best healthcare equipment, but also the best medical practitioners.
"We must impose strict standards on the medical practitioners that we have in the city," Sara said.
She said only the best doctors, nurses, and other medical practitioners should cater to Dabawenyos.
"There is a need to provide better healthcare for the people of Davao," Sara said. "Everyone, at one point or another, becomes a guest of the healthcare industry."
Davao City is gearing up to become part of the "medical tourism industry."
Various hospitals in the city, both government and private, have been procuring the latest equipment in medical technology and is continuously upgrading their facilities to provide the best and quality healthcare service possible.
The government-owned Davao Medical Center recently opened its P350-million Mindanao Heart Center wing early this year. Other private hospitals, such as the Davao Doctor's Hospital have also followed suit.
