GET ready for the newest TV program that is set to revolutionize Saturday night primetime viewing as eight famous celebrities from different sectors of society reveal their other talent -- that is singing, and try their luck by performing with some Filipino legendary singers in the much-awaited dazzling show on GMA Network--Celebrity Duets!
Hosted by the controversial couple Asia's Songbird Regine Velasquez and the Ultimate Singer and Songwriter Ogie Alcasid, make way for Bb. Pilipinas Universe 2007 Ana Theresa Licaros, fashion icon, columnist and socialite Tessa Prieto Valdes, TV host, events organizer and young entrepreneur Tim Yap, surgeon to the stars Doc Manny Calayan, entrepreneur cum talent manager Jessica Rodriguez, dashing doctor from Belo Medical Group Hayden Kho, well-respected talent manager Wyngard Tracy and well-renowned fashion designer Frederick Peralta as they showcase their best in singing with legendary OPM singers in Celebrity Duets beginning tonight.
Celebrity Duets, which has been popular in the United States and produced by Fremantle Limited, Simon Cowell, a judge of American Idol, will soon invade the TV screens of Pinoys via GMA Network to give some famous celebrities in their respective fields a chance to showcase their prowess in singing.
Every week, each celebrity contestant will perform a duet with a well-renowned Filipino performer who made chart-topping hits, exceptional album sales and contributes in elevating the standards of original Pilipino music.
The viewers through text votes will judge the performance of the celebrity contestants. Helping the viewers to choose whom they should vote are three judges who are well-respected personalities in the music industry whose talents and standards in music are highly regarded for many years.
Celebrity Duets judges are legendary composer and arranger Louie Ocampo, first-rate singer, comedienne and stage performer Mitch Valdez and Buboy Garovillo, a member of Apo Hiking Society, a formidable trio that have dominated the Philippine music scene for an overwhelming 32 years.
Unlike the typical singing contests, the Celebrity Duets contestants are not only competing for the cash and special prizes for personal use but also to win the cash prize which they will donate for their chosen charitable institution.
Thus, Celebrity Duets makes a celebrity more prominent and at the same time assists in helping the needy.
