'Tell Sara,' Rody to cops, army on Kadayawan threats

SECURITY measures in Davao City have been heightened to ensure that the celebration of the Kadayawan this week will not be disturbed.

Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte sought the cooperation of the military and police leaders in the region for his daughter, Davao City Vice Mayor Inday Sara Zimmerman-Duterte, who will be temporarily taking over his post.

Updates on the Kadayawan Festival 2007

"If they know anything, immediately coordinate with my daughter," Duterte said in a command conference last Saturday. Although there are no confirmed threats to the Kadayawan festivities this week, the mayor said he does not want any untoward incident to happen.

The Kadayawan festival kicked off last week and will culminate this weekend with the much-awaited floral float parade and the indak-indak sa kadalanan.

Duterte also asked the military to look into the impact of the conflict in Basilan on the city.

Present during the command conference were Eastern Mindanao Command Chief Rodolfo Obaniana, Police Regional Office 11 Director General Andres Caro II, and other military and police officials. (CPM)
