Mayor's peace, order fund gets bulk of additional budget

THE City Council approved on third and final reading the supplemental budget of P423.947 million for 2007 in Tuesday's regular session.

The peace and order fund of the City Mayor's Office tops the expense list at P180 million while P25.7 million will go to the salary increase of city employees.

Other major allocations are for infrastructure projects with an allotment of P40,453,383.60, Regional Peace and Order Council Fund set at P5,439,000, Barangay Enhancement Fund of P4,368,000, and People's Law Enforcement Body at P3,506,000.

The budget will be funded by the following sources: additional estimated Internal Revenue Allotment for 2007 amounting to P312,11,038, making up 73.64 percent of the total fund; unappropriated surplus of 2006 amounting to P68,063,845.00 (16.05%), which comes from revenues from the operation of markets, slaughterhouses and the Sta. Ana Port; Internal Revenue Allotment for 2000 and 2001 amounting to P29,651,710.00 (6.99%); reverted appropriations amounting to P7,479,732 (1.76%); and the unappropriated balance in the 2007 annual budget amounting to P6,584,696.00 (1.55%).
